Established in January 2014, the Schwartz Lab focuses on building models of human liver disease in vitro.

In January 2014, the Belfer Research Building officially opened and the Schwartz Lab established itself in the state-of-the-art facilities, part of the Weill Cornell Medicine campus located in the Upper East Side of Manhattan. This prime location allows for Tri-Institutional collaboration with Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and The Rockefeller University, both located within blocks of Weill Cornell Medicine.

The Schwartz Lab is an active participant in the Jill Roberts Institute (JRI) for Research in Inflammatory Bowel Disease Research In Progress (RIP) Seminar. The JRI RIP Seminar is compromised of 15 labs connected by their research in immunity and gastrointestinal health and disease. The seminar meets once a month with two labs presenting at each meeting, offering the opportunity for dialogue and collaboration. The Schwartz Lab maintains their own Journal Club to stay current on the latest research.

The facilities include a Biosafety Level (BSL) 2 Cell and Tissue Culture Lab, shared access to Microscopy Cores, an in-house Fabrication Facility, and shared Flow Cytometry machines. To read and see more about the facilities offered, please look at the facilities page on our site. The Schwartz Lab members are a close group that enjoy working together. Dr. Schwartz knows the importance of team building so the lab knows how to have fun outside of work. The building facilities, bustling research atmosphere and pleasant work atmosphere create a place to explore and thrive in your scientific career!
